Fracture Jellies, digital photography composite cyanotype on broken mirror collage encased in resin acrylic
Jellies Polyptych, set of 8 individual digital photography cyanotypes on broken mirror encased in resin acrylic
These cyanotype pieces are a result of experimentation with cyanotypes on different mediums, gelatin is cooked with cyanotype chemistry to produce a solution that will bind to glass surfaces. Glass plates or broken mirror is coated with the emulsion and then exposed in sunlight using a negative processed from a digital photograph or composite and printed on transparent film. The full oxidation and vibrance of the classic Prussian blue takes as long as 24 hours to fully develop, after which the broken mirror is encased in UV resistant resin acrylic, glass plates are mounted with led lights to emphasize the transparency of the medium.
